For those of you who do not follow my Facebook posts or Twitter feed, (Hey, why aren’t you following my Facebook and Twitter?! You miss out on some interesting conversations.) this is a video of me shooting at the White Buffalo at the NRA Whittington Center in Raton, NM. I traveled down to Whittington with the crew from Soldier of Fortune Magazine and spent a week learning new things and enjoying new forms of shooting sports.
The attached photo is of me just prior to making the buffalo shot with a .338 Lapua Magnum. In that case, it was a one shot, one hit affair. The video took place previous to the .338 shot and was accomplished using an Armalite AR10, a real one, not an AR in .308 by another manufacturer. Now, for the purposes of full disclosure, I can’t really take credit for making these shots. The rifles were set up and the scopes doped by friends on the range. The real challenge was seeing if I could hold the rifle steady enough to actually accomplish the shot. On my next trip to Whittington, I will be taking my own rifle and doing it all myself. It is a challenge I have placed upon myself so now I have to check that box. But, for a guy who never fired a rifle at anything farther away than 500 yards, I was pretty proud of myself. So, here is the video. Enjoy.
